Thank you so much for your warm welcome and for your help guys !

I have been busy cleaning up the boat, servicing the engines (volvo 122's), installing a home theater in the salon (family with 2 young girls!) and adding some more urgent stuff that I didn't had a chance to look at the cetrek closely. It did turn on (no idea whether it did actually work, it just showed some data on the display) when I purchased the boat several months ago but does not turn on anymore so that would be one of several "next item" things on the boat. Other than that we love the boat and try to enjoy it as much as possible as it is without getting lost too much in the depths of the hull Wink.

As you can see I am not a techie but I will tell you the model # after I visit the boat next time.

David

Hi Dave

Sounds like you're enjoying the boat already. Feel free to post your images on this forum of your boat, we just love photos of other people's boats!

First thing to do, David, is to check the model, print the manual and have a good read. The Cetrek manuals are very good at explaining the settings on the autopilot.

There may be a breaker off or if a fuse is blown then you may have a problem. If the p55 is the same as our own, there is a breaker on the switch panel and a fuse in the machinery space fuse box which is where the autopilot control box is mounted.

Mark and Ian,

I've been to the boat today. It is a Cetrek Propilot 700. All the peripherals (rudder sensor, compass, etc) look fine but the head unit does not turn although there is voltage on the supply line.

I guess a manual/wiring diagram would be my only chance to try to make it run again.

Thanks for your help,
David

Ian may have the manuals you require though check the glass fuse inside the unit first.

Thanks Mark, will do.

Was this 700 setup something desirable or just a so-so and worthwhile the efford? Is it upgradable or combinable with newer versions? I see cetrek once in a while on eBay but I have no clue whether I could incorporate them into my system.

Thanks,
David

Basically, apart from the existing hydraulics which you should check hoses etc, you will need a new system. Navman have just brought out a 24 volt autopilot (top-of-the-range model) which looks really good.

You mean the 700 is not worthwhile to try to fix?

Thanks,
David

I was replying to whether the 700 could be upgraded. The 700 is probably a very good unit as the 727 we have works great in following seas etc. but it is not upgradeable.

I have manuals (in PDF) as follows:-
ProPilot 700 Installation and Servicing
ProPilot 700 User Guide
ProPilot 725 Installation and Servicing
ProPilot 725 User Guide

Tried to upload via the 'Sticky' description but got an error... I have forwarded them to Mark via normal email route since he was able to load up the 727 manual OK.

Hi David,

Did you see the Cetrek stuff on USA eBay? There are items which have the wrong spelling on the item (ctrek instead of cetrek)? Seller never answered my question asking what the model numbers of the items are.

Folks - I have a Princess 415 with a 'Cetrek 737' autopilot. Purhcased the boat but was then told the 'course computer' is faulty. Not sure whether to fix it or start again with something like a Navman system (all the nav equipment is a little old now anyway). I don't have any manuals for it.
Any ideas? Seen a similar thread re a 727.
Thanks

Dave

Not sure how bad it is, whether it is major of not.

I have a list of numbers you can try...

Technical Queries
Service Centre 01929-554-558
Direct line 01929-554-505

For after sale service Golden Arrow
01202-666-066

Cetrek
01202-632116

These numbers are 4 years old. Try from the bottom up and let us know what are relevant.

Good cruising

Mark
