We own a 1989 Princess 55 and are marine engineers so I thought I would share with you the installation progress of our bow thruster. It is a Side Power SP155 24volt which requires a 250mm tube.

We finished the bow thruster install on Friday, well, not quite - still got the electrics to do but all the fiberglassing is done.

I would be interested what people think of the fairing and how it effects their own boat. We decided to keep the bottom of the tube and fair it in as opposed to grinding it back. Any thoughts or comments gratefully received. We can grind back the fairing in the future if required.

Going through two chines and two ribs was a challenge but we are now left with what is in essence two extra bulkheads in the boat.

Good cruising

Mark
