As a recent purchaser of a 32 I have a problem getting hot water. The tanks have recently been replaced and the pipework does'nt seem right. I am getting water from the calorifier but it seems to be piped back to the tanks. Consequently I have no pressure Where should I find the connections to the taps? If possible could some kind person draw me a plan of the pipework?

The hot water from the engine(s) is pumped though the calorifier and is a closed system. The water going to the hot tap goes through the hot water tank on 2 other connections so is separate from the engine cooling water.

Check that the water pressure pump is turned on and that the cold water flows OK first. You may have an airlock?

the hot fresh water coming out of the calorifier is under presure Ok but it is then taken back to the fresh water tanks so looses pressure . The cold is fine but the pump does'nt shut down because of the no pressure on the hot

It sounds like it really is plumbed wrong. If it has been a matter of replacing like for like then there must be a pipe going onto the wrong connection somewhere or 2 swapped over. Beest thing to do is to trace every pipe and label if required and sketch a drawing to figure the system out. Maybe some P32 owner has info on their system?

The plumbing shoud be pretty simple.

The primary circuit just circulates the cooling water from the engine through a coil in the calorifier and back to the engine. This is the "fresh" cooling water; the one with the antifreeze.

The real fresh water is what goes into the the tanks and should come out of the taps. There should be a hose connecting the outlets at the bottom rear of the tanks together. Then there is a T junction about the middle which takes the water to the pump. We also have a vent pipe teed off near to this. This one runs vertically to provide a simple sight guage and then joins the vent from the top of one tank. The pum and reservoir are fitted under the steps into the saloon.

From the pump the water should be piped to the cold taps in the galley and heads and also to the bottom of the calorifier. This supplies the water to be heated. The hot water then flows from the top of the calorifier to the hot taps. There is also a pressure reservoir connect near to the pump outlet to avoid the pump switching on and off too rapidly.

Hope this helps,
Dave S.
